Written for internationally renowned violinist Jenny Bae, this piece for electric violin and string quartet has three principal ideas. The opening “Pulse” rhythm includes a phasing effect on the electric violin which is a feature throughout much of the composition. The rhythmic stabs on the quartet coupled with racing arpeggios on the electric violin soon make way for a gentle chorale theme. This morphs into a Korean folk-like theme before returning to the Pulse rhythm. Other digital effects on the electric violin include delay and reverb and occasional light distortion.
